Steam Whistle Down The Wind

For Hire

“Whistle down the wind” is a new steam powered narrow boat that I built from scratch and completed last year. It has a vertical fire tube boiler with 187 tubes. The engine is a 5x71/2”x4 compound manufactured by A. A. Leak in the 1980s.

The boat is based at Barden Mill (Bridge 134) - 3 miles from Barrowford Locks and Foulridge Tunnel and only 18 miles from Skipton.

Accommodation
The accommodation sleeps 4 people comfortably. It comprises of a front bedroom with double bed, bathroom with full sized shower and flushing toilet.

Living space with comfortable double sofa bed and central heating.

Fully fitted kitchen with 4 ring gas cooker and fridge.

Included
Basic food provisions i.e. coffee, tea, cereal, bedding and towels.

Insurance
The insurance stipulates that I must be in overall charge of the boat when the boiler is in steam but as the pictures show, there is room for you to get fully involved with stoking the boiler and maintaining the engine. When the fire is out, I can go home and you can have the boat to yourselves!

Hire charges
The steam boat hire will cost £250 per day including a nights accomodation on board, myself when the boiler is in steam and £150 per day for any extra days when the boiler is not in steam.

A weeks hire must include at least 3 days steaming.
